The Beginning of TOH: A Global Invitation to Earthians

On November 7, 2018, we lit a candle for what would become a global movement of healing, hope, and heart languages spoken. It began as a caring call to action across borders—an open invitation to anyone who considered themselves an "Earthian" to help build a bridge of solidarity through the colors of language. The initiative was born from a simple, genuine, and urgent desire to do some good for a world wrestling with depression, PTSD, loneliness, addictions, and anxiety.

The premise was deeply collaborative: writers, linguists, and allies were invited to receive a secret English poem via direct message, translate it into their language of choice, and return it to be featured as a dedicated post of encouragement. Even those who only spoke English were welcomed—a thoughtful addition suggested by Linda Lokhee who wanted her poems translated as well—ensuring that no one was left out of the circle of giving.

From its very inception, this initiative was outward-looking, service-driven, and very much for humanity's well-being. These translated pieces were created not just for digital reflection, but to be actively contributed to the Food & Thought outreach program hosted by the @Madpropslive community, serving as emotional nourishment for the homeless, the depressed, and the lost. It was a humble, grassroots, and loving attempt to prove that when the world connects through the gifts of the heart—whether that is words, art, or creativity—we are actively holding a lantern for those walking through the dark. It was also open to be used by other communities, organizations, or platforms for spreading awareness about mental health.
