THE LANTERNS
For Mental Health Advocates

The Lanterns is a solo multilingual zine collection that refuses to stay behind the invisible borders of culture, nation, or language.

The Hourglass Moves Again

For a few years, the movement known as Translations Of Hope sat in a paused hourglass. It was a season of rest after a season of pouring out—after burnout, after the “Hope Dealers” community shifted, and after the silent demand of publishing began to expand. But in 2025, the sand began to move again. The result is the Lanterns shelf, and its first eight releases from the For You series are a testament to its beginning.

Polished Gems for the Unheard

Reena Doss created a space for many mental health zines to sit under The Lanterns. It is for those actively helping others and who encounter resistance, heartbreak, and isolation simply for doing the most generous deeds for others without a reason or a need to evaluate the season. This isn’t a coffee-table decoration. This is a polished gem for the unheard—for those currently being:

  • Condemned unjustly by those who prefer a distorted version of your truth.
  • Gapped and gossiped about in rooms you aren’t in to defend yourself.
  • Abandoned and gaslit by people who chose to label you “toxic” because it served their own narrative.

Expanding THE LANTERNS Legacy

The FOR YOU Series

Apart from running a one-woman press, Reena Doss also manages the solo multilingual zine series, For You, under the Lanterns Bookshelf. She presents this collection under her own name for Translations Of Hope (TOH), bringing hopeful pieces across different genres, themes, and topics. This series is crafted specifically for mental health advocates, for those who need a bit of light, and for anyone searching for inspiration.

Upcoming Series

While the For You series is a solo multilingual zine, The Lanterns is also making room for group and community zine adventures. These feature multilingual poems, stories, artwork, and other messages of hope. These are drawn from submissions we will open through TOH, and release when ready to honor World Mental Health Day, advocacy, and our many hope-related goals.
